Call for proposals 2025 – Enhancing the European R&I system (HORIZON-WIDERA-2025-06)

Open Call

Objectives
The call supports the EU-wide implementation of the ERA Policy Agenda, funding initiatives addressing key areas such as open science, research careers, research management, and knowledge valorisation. It encourages rolling out ERA policy results, enabling sustained coordination of institutional open?access publishing, supporting evidence-based reforms in research assessment, addressing career barriers for underrepresented and marginalised researchers, program-level policy collaboration, strengthening science-for-policy ecosystems, and engaging citizens through the “Science comes to town” prize event.

The objective is to reinforce the European R&I system by fostering institutional capacity-building, enhancing shared values of openness, inclusiveness, diversity and sustainability; promoting reforms aligned with ERA priority areas; and increasing stakeholder uptake of ERA practices. Projects are expected to deliver concrete impacts through reproducibility, inclusivity, improved working conditions for researchers (especially early-career), enhanced research management training, non-profit publishing services, and evidence-informed policymaking. Through collaboration across public bodies, research organisations, and networks, the call aims to embed ERA actions into institutional practice, strengthen coordination at EU-level, create hubs for community engagement, and extend outreach via citizen science events. This will contribute to a more resilient, equitable, and high-quality European R&I ecosystem.
