23rd International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Linguistics

The International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (ISTAL) is a biennial event that reflects the interests of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics of the School of English that organises it. This year’s 23rd Symposium (ISTAL 23) will take place on 31 March - 2 April, 2017. The areas covered concern any aspect of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, such as Syntax, Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Pragmatics, Historical Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Language Processing, Computational Linguistics and Language Teaching Methodology. Papers are presented in general sessions and thematic workshops. Presentations in the general sessions will be in 20 minute-slots with a 10-minute question time.
Both the general sessions and the workshops address linguists but also in-service language teachers and teacher-trainers. The Symposium is also of interest to undergraduate students looking to hone their language and teaching skills, as well as to graduate students of linguistics and language teaching methodology.
